ARS Montreal “Sosse” Chapter Annual Bazaar 2024
With great enthusiasm, the Armenian Relief Society (ARS) Montreal “Sosse” Chapter proudly hosted its traditional Annual Bazaar on November 9–10, 2024, at the Homenetmen Gamk “Haig Markarian” Gymnasium, located in the Montreal Armenian Community Center.
The event began with an official opening ceremony on the morning of Saturday, November 9th, marked by the ARS anthem. The ceremony was attended by distinguished guests, including Very Rev. Father Hagop Yacoubian, Very Rev. Karnig Koyounian, Ungerouhi Arminé Karabedian, Canada representative of the ARS Central Executive Board; Ungerouhi Loucine Palandjian, Chairperson of the ARS Canada Regional Executive Board; and Ungerouhi Aline Hadidian, Chairperson of the ARS Laval “Shushi” Chapter. Representatives of sister organizations, members, volunteers, friends, and esteemed guests were also present to celebrate the occasion.
In her opening remarks, ARS Montreal “Sosse” Chapter Chairperson Ungh. Sossi Chungrian warmly welcomed all attendees to the chapter’s 62nd Annual Bazaar. She expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Bazaar Committee and Social Committee members for their dedication, teamwork, and resilience, which ensured the event’s success. She also extended thanks to the donors, sponsors, and volunteers for their steadfast support of the ARS mission, especially during challenging times.
Ungh. Chungrian emphasized the meaningful collaboration between younger and experienced members, highlighting the opportunity for mentorship and skill-sharing that enriched the event’s preparation. Special recognition was given to members of the AYF Levon Shant and Pegor Ashod chapters, students from Sourp Hagop Armenian School, and the Homenetmen Gamk Scouts, who generously volunteered their time throughout the weekend.
During the ceremony, Ungh. Chungrian presented a heartfelt biography of the Bazaar’s Godparents, Unger Hagop and Ungerouhi Anna Bulgarian. Ung. Hagop Bulgarian has been a member of the ARS for several years, and most notably, was the principal of the Sourp Hagop Armenian School from 1989-2010 . Ungh. Anna Bulgarian has been heavily involved with ARS since joining the Montreal Sosse Chapter in 1974. Her tireless service to the ARS over the years has been commendable. Ungh. Sossi lauded their dedication and active participation in ARS initiatives. The Godparents then had the honor of cutting the red ribbon, officially inaugurating the event.
Very Rev. Father Hagop Yacoubian offered inspiring remarks and a fatherly blessing, commending the selfless devotion and unwavering commitment of ARS members who tirelessly serve their communities in times of need.
The 2024 Bazaar featured a delightful array of offerings, including homemade baked goods, apparel, children’s toys, Christmas decorations, handmade Armenian crafts, pet supplies, and unique gifts. Attendees also enjoyed traditional Armenian delicacies such as mante, sarma, boereg, tetoumi anoush, and an assortment of homemade desserts, all lovingly prepared by members and volunteers.
All proceeds from this two-day event will benefit École Arménienne Sourp Hagop.
